A classic “J16” rocking chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1944 for FDB Møbler, Denmark. The J16 is one of Wegner’s most enduring designs and embodies the Scandinavian modern principles of simplicity, function, and craftsmanship. The chair’s construction combines a light yet sturdy wooden frame with a hand-woven seat, creating both comfort and elegance in a timeless form. The frame is of solid beech with hand-woven natural paper cord, a hallmark of Danish modern craftsmanship. Gently curving rockers, a high spindle backrest for ergonomic support, and sculpted armrests that emphasize Wegner’s sensitivity to form and comfort.
